Ma Muse

Ma Muse http://www.mamuse.org/press

From those sweet harmonies of the stage to that soft sway of the room, a tenderness lives between Ma Muse and their audience. It is that precious communion of sharing roots music that bonds strangers, draws loved ones close, suspends applause, and lifts a house to its feet.

Singing with a voice of heritage, the songstress duo of Sarah Nutting and Karisha Longaker is dedicated to uplifting community through song and joy.

With a hauntingly rich a capella presence, these alto-sopranos weave a blend of whimsy and emotional depth. This texture is spun with upright bass, mandolin, bazuki, guitar, flute, kalimba, ankle bells, train whistles, gospel claps, jazz snaps, laughter, calls, response, and- a unicycle.

In the turn of only two seasons, Ma Muse has toured concert halls across the country en route to the famous Wish Bone Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where they recorded their first full length album "All The Way."

The dynamic and genuine following of fans knows Ma music is soul music. From the first verse, everyone seems ready to return, and ready to celebrate. Ma Muse splashed Atlanta audiences when they placed in the finals of the bi-annual Open Mic Shootout at the legendary singer-songwriter venue, Eddie's Attic.

A sound as pure as the talent and intention given to it, this music speaks from the quiet places of our lives.

This tour is an expansive opportunity for me to use some of the talents developed living on the beautiful coast of Big Sur for the last 50 years, where I developed my skills as a professional photographer http://www.creationslight.com/index.html and lead drummer in an ecstatic percussion ensemble known as the Big Sur Natives www.bigsurnatives.com.

We brought people of all ages together for a decade to dance and celebrate the sacredness of all life. We became a major draw in Big Sur where many traveled from across the country to take part in the euphoric celebrations. The Big Sur Natives were featured on Oprah 2002. Big Sur Natives were an integral part of the world beat band Barefoot which lead to the production of several albums. Barefoot was founded in 1988 by percussionist Clay Henry (who in the 1960's had been a jazz bassist in New York) and violinist Steve Kindler (formerly with a later version of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jan Hammer and Jeff Beck).

Edward J. Antkowiak,

Edward J. Antkowiak

I have known and worked with Sonya Sophia Illig over many years, and watched the development of this project since its inception. I am willing to commit my time and expertise to this project for the duration.

I have been a clinical practitioner of Acupuncture, Manual Therapy, and other Oriental Medicine therapies for over 20 years now, specializing in areas of practice that are particularly relevant to the needs of the Military Veterans that we hope to reach with this project. Among those are: musculoskeletal injuries and other associated consequences of traumatic injury, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and emotional healing work specific to the distinct needs of both men and women. I have been trained by teachers of Traditional and other therapies who were themselves veterans of military service in wartime, and who spoke about their own paths of healing as well as the traditional ways of healing in their cultures. I have also been active in the development and teaching of educational programs about many of these subjects for over 10 years, often creating unique educational programs to address the needs of specific populations or sub-populations.
